Flint is surrounded by several smaller communities including, Flint Township, Flushing, Grand Blanc, Burton and Swartz Creek.
FIC is located in Swartz Creek less than 10 miles from downtown Flint. Flint is the largest city and county seat of Genesee County in the State of Michigan. It is located along the Flint River, 66 miles (106 km) northwest of Detroit. According to the 2013 Census Bureau report, Flint’s estimated population is around 99,763. Flint has a number of minor league professional sports clubs and arenas.
The Flint Cultural Center campus provides area residents with an array of cultural, scientific, and artistic experiences and promotes understanding of the diverse cultures reflected in the Greater Flint community. Flint Farmers Market A year round public market with 50 vendors inside the building; neat and clean and feature several produce vendors, a great meat market, poultry, breads and baked goods, cheese, an art gallery, a cafe, middle-eastern and Mexican groceries, and many unique gifts.
Applewood is located east of downtown Flint, between the Flint Cultural Center and Mott Community College and is the estate of the Charles Stewart Mott family, built by Mr. Mott in 1916 at the edge of downtown Flint. Come visit Applewood to learn about its past and become part of its future! Fun family events are mainly held during the spring, summer and fall.
