Child Development and Care (CDC): Childcare assistance for eligible parents to access high quality childcare. Eligibility requirements. Head Start and Early Head Start: Head Start is a federal program that promotes school readiness of children from birth to age five from low-income families by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development.
Adult Literacy: Education required for high school equivalency and transition to higher education or employment; reading, writing and math skills, one-on-one tutoring.
Additional Adult Education Classes: List of various services and providers including high school equivalency testing.
HSE-to-School-Program: “Based on available funding, the HSE-to-School Program covers the cost of one attempt on each subject area for the three high school equivalency testing options - GED, HiSET, or TASC - for Michigan residents who meet eligibility requirements.”
The Disability Network (TDN): Is a center for “independent living that partners with people with disabilities so they can live as independently in the community as possible.” Services include information and referrals, peer support, nursing facility transitions, advocacy, youth transitions, and independent living skills. English Language Acquisition (ELA): Help for non-native speakers to improve English language skills.
Children and Adults English Language Learners: Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) assist students in Genesee County schools with English language instruction.
English language classes may be available to help with citizenship exam for adults.
Heat and Utilities: Temporary heat and utility assistance may be available for eligible low-income families and individuals when heating or electric service has been or will be shut off.
Weatherization: Home Heating Credit, State Emergency Relief, Weatherization Assistance Program. Program to reduce energy costs for low-income families, especially the elderly, people with disabilities, and children, by improving their homes. Sign up at 2727 Lippincott Blvd., Flint, MI 48507; Monday-Friday 8:00-4:00; 810-787-0199. Must download application packet on site.
Low-income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Households who meet all State Emergency Relief (SER) eligibility requirements may receive assistance to help them with household heat and electric costs. LIHEAP funds are also used for the Home Heating Credit (HHC) (855) 275-6424. There are eligibility requirements.

CARE Program: Consumers Energy in partnership with Department of Human Services and other agencies developed the CARE program to assist low-income eligible customers with a history of energy assistance afford their bill. Become a Foster Parent About 14,000 children in Michigan are in foster care. In a state such as Michigan that has such a large Muslim population, it is unfortunate that there are very few Muslims involved in the foster care system. Oftentimes, Muslim children cannot be placed in Muslim foster homes because there are little to no licensed Muslim foster parents in their city/county. Apply for Medicare:Health insurance for individuals 65 years or older. Individuals can sign up three months before they turn 65; individuals with a disability may qualify for Medicare earlier if they have a disability.
Children's Special Health Care Services: CSHCS is a program for children, some adults, and their families who face chronic health. The program seeks to assist these groups access appropriate medical care, health education and supports. Eligibility requirements.
Child Health Insurance Program (CHIP): Healthcare program for the low-income uninsured children (sometimes pregnant women) of Michigan's working families. CHIP is for families who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid.
Mott Children’s Hospital: Eligibility requirements for dentistry, pediatric health, audiology, cardiology, lipid clinic, mental health, and pediatric rehabilitation: occupational, physical, and speech therapy.

Hamilton Community Health Network seeks to provide high quality health services to all, regardless of ability to pay. Facilities use a sliding pay scale for eligible low-income individuals and families; in addition to other private and public insurances being accepted. Home Repairs: "State Emergency Relief assists with home repairs to correct unsafe conditions and restore essential services. Eligible home repairs may include repair or replacement of a non-functioning furnace, hot water heaters or septic systems."
